  • Tips for Shopping on Aliexpress

In 2026, shopping on AliExpress is pretty similar to shopping on Amazon with the biggest difference that the products come and almost all originate in China. It’s kind of like scuba diving. There’s a lot more waiting around, but the end result is usually very satisfying.

  • My Favorite Light

My favorite light right now is the Wurkkos DL08. It has narrow beam, wide beam, red and UV modes. To charge it all you need to do is unscrew the head and plug in a USB-C cable. It also has a screw hole on the bottom that you can use to attach the included ball mount for use with a camera system.

  • The Best Signal Light

There are a few usable signal lights. The best one I’ve found is the Wurkkos DL04. It has five solid color modes, four blinking modes and a rotating RGB mode. The frosted mushroom-shaped cap makes it an ideal signal light by redirecting a lot of the light, so you can see it from every direction.

  • Bolt Snaps Are Key

Buying a boatload of bolt snaps might be the best scuba hack there is.

The official version goes for over $20. Knockoffs cost around $2-4. You can give them away as tips. Give them as gifts to endear buddies to you. And they prevent you from losing your gear!

Double snaps are probably the most used because they’re the easiest to use. You will end up using way more of them than you can imagine. Lots of gear has some sort of loop on it and it’s way too easy to lose gear underwater.

Bolt snaps with a small loop are ideal for any gear that you want a compact way to not lose, like lights, gauges, regulators etc. Here’s a guide for how to attach them.

Bolt snaps with a large loop are ideal if you want an additional way to grab your gear. For instance sidemount divers use these to attach their tanks.

It may sound crazy, but based on my personal usage I would recommend buying 20 double snaps and 10 small loop snaps if you plan on diving a lot.
